Ulrich Zachau joined the World Bank Group in 1988. Since joining the East Asia Pacific Region in January 2012, he served as director of strategy and operations from 2012-2013 and is currently the country director for Southeast Asia, based in Bangkok, and covering all Bank programs and operations in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand. He holds degrees in mathematics and economics from the University of Munich and a Ph. D. degree in economics from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
