Karen Piper is the author of The Price of Thirst, Left in the Dust, Cartographic Fictions, and a soon-to-be-released memoir called A Girl’s Guide to Missiles (Viking Penguin). She teaches contemporary literature, creative nonfiction, and literary journalism at the University of Missouri.
